NAFASI YA KISWAHILI KATIKA UFASIRI WA MIKATABA, SHERIA ZA KITAIFA, NA KIMATAIFA NCHINI KENYA

Kikwazo cha lugha katika ufahamu wa masuala nyeti ya kitaifa au hata kimataifa huweza kuharibu mawasiliano nchini na kusababisha kutoelewana miongoni mwa watu. Aidha, kikwazo hicho kinaweza kukwamisha juhudi za maendeleo katika taifa au hata kuzuia wananchi kuelewa yale yanayojiri katika nyanja za kimataifa. Kikwazo hiki hutokea pale ambapo lugha moja rasmi ndiyo inayotumiwa hata kama kuna lugha mbili rasmi, kuunda sera za nchi, kufafanulia mikataba na makubaliano ya kitaifa na kimataifa au hata kuelezea sheria za nchi. Nchini Kenya, wananchi wengi hawafahamu sera za nchi au hata Katiba ya Kenya. Hii ni kutokana na hali kwamba Kiingereza ndicho kinachotumiwa kuunda sera, kuandikia Katiba ya nchi, mbali na kuhifadhi mikataba na makubaliano yoyote rasmi yawe ni ya kitaifa au kimataifa. Je, nafasi ya Kiswahili katika kuwafahamisha wananchi yale yanayojiri nchini mwao iko wapi? Makala yanajadili kikwazo cha lugha katika ufahamu wa masuala nyeti, sera au hata miradi ya kitaifa au kimataifa inayotekelezwa nchini na jinsi masuala hayo yanavyoathiri wananchi walio wengi. Udurusu wa baadhi ya mikataba, sera, sheria na makubaliano ya kitaifa na kimataifa umefanywa ili kuonesha jinsi yasivyoeleweka au kufahamika miongoni mwa Wakenya wengi. Makala yanapendekeza mikakati ya kuzingatiwa ili kuwahusisha wananchi wote kama washiriki katika mambo yanayowaathiri na kuweza kuchangia katika mijadala ya kitaifa na kimataifa inayoathiri maisha yao.
